I've tried to follow some guides and I've also tried to install OS X Snow Leopard but the Boot from CD/DVD doesn't start at all. (BIOS Settings with CD/DVD as first Boot option - F12 to select 'Boot from CD/DVD' but it doesn't start). So, there must be something wrong but I can't understand what's the problem. I also edited smbios.plist and com.apple.boot.plist to work on my system. Resoultion (1366x768x32) doesn't work. After that, no need for boot disc. Hope this helped/helps. Yes I confirm SL 10.6.2 works fine on inspiron 1545.

Run installer 9. Reboot computer when its done.Right, now here's where it gets a bit murky. I rebooted automatically into Windows 7, and the only way to access snow leopard was to boot from the DVD and not press anything when the screen with the options pops up. So, I installed 'EasyBCD' on Windows and added Mac OS X to the bootloader, as 'generic pc x86' Restart computer and hey presto! Dual boot capabilities! This is all from memory though, and may not work in places, I mostly got it running through a great 3 days of trial and error.
